Pioneer of First-Ever Iconic 3G Router Appoints Brad Weinert
as Chairman and Jim Grey as Board Member

San Diego, Calif. — March 10, 2009 — NexAira, Inc., the defining provider of 3G/4G wireless data solutions and services, today announced the appointment of telecommunications industry titans,  Brad Weinert and Jim  Grey, to its Board of Directors.  Mr. Weinert, former president and acting CEO of Novatel Wireless, will join as chairman of the board. Mr. Grey, previously CEO of Radiant Communications, joins as a director.

“NexAira has what it takes to be the leader in the next wave of innovation in the  wireless industry – a seasoned senior management team, a solid business strategy and wireless routing software and firmware solutions that cut across broad market segments,” said Mr. Weinert.  “In a market that’s become unnecessarily complex and expensive, NexAira is filling a critical need for simplicity and ease of use for end-users to connect to the Internet while saving its customers time, resources and money with NexWare’s revolutionary iconic, intuitive and interactive interface.”

NexAira recently announced the NexWare i3 GUI™ for its NexConnect SOHO and Business Class Wireless 3G/4G Routers, the first-ever iconic edge routers to empower non-technical end-users to conduct self-installations.  The NexWare i3 GUI displays auto-configuration results of Internet cellular WAN connections, which decrease customer service and maintenance costs for service providers and managed virtual network operators (MVNOs), while providing a user-friendly experience for enterprises and small office/home office (SOHO) customers.

“With more than 55-years in combined IT and telecom experience, Brad and Jim bring immeasurable perspective to NexAira’s Board,” said Mark Sampson, President & CEO, NexAira, Inc.  “Their business insight and operational expertise in growing innovative technology companies and transforming them into major market leaders will be vital as we aggressively grow the company.”

As part of the NexAira Board of Directors, Mr. Weinert and Mr. Grey will exercise oversight of business development, strategic management and NexAira’s expansion into the small office/home office, enterprise, Tier 2 and 3 carriers, MVNO and service provider marketplace.  They both bring deep and broad experience to NexAira, including:

  • George B. Weinert, former president and acting CEO of Novatel Wireless, is known for transforming emerging technology and telecommunications companies into market leaders.  He brings over 25 years of management experience in a variety of high-technology market segments including wireless data networking, computer software and hardware, local and wide area networking, telecommunications, online commerce and peripherals.  Mr. Weinert helped to build and grow Novatel as President, Acting CEO, COO and other senior management positions in business development and product development.  He was instrumental as part of the senior executive staff who successfully raised $70 million through Novatel’s initial public offering.  While President at Novatel, revenues exceeded $430 million for FY 2007.  Prior to Novatel, Mr. Weinert held senior management positions at Okbridge, IVasion/RouterWare Inc., NetManage Inc., Age Logic Inc. and PathwaySystem

  • James L. Grey, 30-year veteran IT and telecom entrepreneur and business development guru, brings to NexAira a wealth of experience serving companies including Radiant Communications, BC Telecom, Telus and IBM.  As CEO of Radiant, he led the company from a start-up to one of Profit Magazine’s fastest growing companies in 2004.  While at Radiant, the company grew to manage over 10,000 secure IP connections across North America serving Fortune 500 customers.  Prior to Radiant, he served as vice president for BC Telecom where he developed and grew the Data and Internet Services group’s revenues from less than $1 million in 1993 to over $70 million in 1998.  Moreover, he co-led BC Telecom’s merger with Telus in 1999 and steered its expansion of services across Canada.  Mr. Grey has also had an extensive career with IBM where he was responsible for the $310 million software and services business in western Canada.  He has been active as a board member throughout his career for many private and public companies such as Accenture Business Services for Utilities, British Columbia Institute of Technology, Junior Achievement and NCompass Labs, which was purchased by Microsoft in 2000

Current members of the NexAira Board of Directors include Garry Bourns, Director and Founder; Bernard Parkinson, Director and Founder; Mark Sampson, President, CEO and Director; and Ralph Proceviat, CFO and Director.
