NOTE: Ensure your 3G wireless modem is activated before inserting into the NexConnect router for use.
- When the NexConnect router is shipped new or following a reset, what is its default gateway IP address and password?
Gateway: http:// 192.168.1.1
Password: admin
- What is the maximum number of IP addresses that NexConnect will support?
The NexConnect will support up to 253 IP addresses.
- Does the NexConnect have Quality of Service (QoS)?
Yes, you can enable QoS.
- Does the NexConnect router have remote management capabilities?
Yes, you can enable remote management through Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
- Does the NexConnect router support remote administrator access?
Yes, you can enable remote administration. Select the Remote Admin icon under the Security section. Since most carriers use a Dynamic Public IP address, subscribe to a Dyn DNS service for public IP address resolution.
- Does the NexConnect router have WAN failover?
Yes, you can use a 3G modem card as a failover mechanism to your DSL or Cable connection.
- What is Network Address Translation and what is it used for?
Network Address Translation (NAT) translates multiple IP addresses on the private LAN to one public address that is sent out to the Internet. This adds a level of security since the address of a PC connected to the private LAN is never transmitted on the Internet.
- What operating systems are supported with the NexConnect?
Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Mac and Linux.
- How many VPNs will the NexConnect Support?
The NexConnect router will support 5 concurrent VPN pass through sessions of IPSEC.
- What is IPSEC?
IPSEC provides either transport mode (end-to-end) security of packet traffic in which the end-point computers do the security processing, or tunnel mode (portal-to-portal) communications security in which security of packet traffic is provided to several machines by a single node.
- Which browsers does NexConnect router support?
Recent versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Netscape.
- Can the NexConnect router act as my Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server?
Yes. The NexConnect router has DHCP server software built-in.
- How do I reset the NexConnect router to factory default?
When NexConnect is powered on and working in normal status, using a straightened paperclip, press and hold the RESET button for about 20 seconds, until all the indicator lights turn off. Then release RESET button, press the RESET button to set up the device again.
